Telmisartan (Generic Micardis) is used in treating elevated blood pressure, retains the normal health of the heart and protects kidneys from getting damaged due to diseases like diabetes. Telmisartan is a white to slightly yellowish solid. It is insoluble in water and partly soluble in strong acid (but insoluble in hydrochloric acid). This medicine is freely soluble in strong base.
Both Brand Micardis and Generic Telmisartan are used for same purpose and the results are also similar. The inactive ingredients of these medicines are different. Since both the medicines have different manufacturer therefore difference in color, shape and packaging are to be noticed. Generic Telmisartan is cheaper than Brand Micardis. Branded drugs are always expensive as a substantial amount of money is spent after the advertisement and to get approval from FDA.
